Interest in travelling from Central Europe to Croatia for a holiday to the Adriatic Sea is growing significantly. Following the successful introduction of RegioJet's commercial train connection from the Czech Republic to Croatia, another offer is being added, this time a line from Bratislava via Vienna to Split, directed by Slovak Railways ZSSK in cooperation with austrian railways ÖBB. This is a night rail connection that will operate in the summer season until 10 September. In comparison with RegioJet, it also offers the possibility of transporting a passenger car or motorcycle.
Thanks to ZSSK, Austrian railways are expanding their EuroNight night train network, in cooperation with another railway partner, this is the 9th EuroNight connection for them. In addition to this connection, ÖBB also offers connections to the port city of Rijeka. Austrian railways are operators of 19 Nightjet routes with 28 night connections, making them the largest night train operator in Europe.
The new night service from Bratislava to Split will run twice a week. In addition to the connections of Bratislava, Vienna and Split, it will also offer connections for the travel stations Graz, Maribor and Zagreb. The train set is eight-car, of which two cars are for seating with a capacity of 126 seats, another 3 cars are sleeping cars for 90 passengers and the train includes 3 cars for transporting cars and motorcycles (1 car from Bratislava and another 2 cars from Vienna). Passenger cars are air-conditioned.
One-way tickets start at €29.90 per seat and €69.90 in a sleeper car. Welcome drink and breakfast are included in the ticket price. The price for transporting a car ranges from €109.90 and a motorcycle from €79.90. For a restful sleep, this night train has a special night-time rest mode from 9pm to 8am.
