The goal of the project was to create an easily and quickly installable mechanism that could be easily removed, allowing for quick maintenance. Compared to standard light rails, the Very Light Rail is shallower, significantly reducing the need for diversions.
Researchers from the University of Warwick will evaluate data from tests where weight sensors will weigh trucks moving along a track while vibration meters take measurements ten times per second.
According to Jim O'Boyle, the city council's cabinet member for Jobs, Regeneration & Climate Change, the development of the rails took hundreds of hours. The residents of the city of Coventry also participated in the works, which contributed to the creation of jobs for residents.
