During the Railway Congress in Warsaw, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mustafa Nayyem stated that Ukraine had started design work on the construction of a European standard railway from the Mostyska station, Lviv region.

The project aims to improve railway communication with Poland.

"It is an opportunity to improve the entrance to Ukraine from the Polish side through the construction of a 1435mm-wide track from the Mostyska station (where such a track goes from Polish Przemyśl). Design work in this area is already underway," informs the Polish media resource Rynek kolejowy.

It is reported that among the projects to improve railway communication between the countries, Nayyem named the Kovel-Yagodin line, where modernization will be carried out to increase capacity, as well as work on the electrification of the Kovel-Izov line.

Nayyem informed that Ukraine would undertake to improve transport to and from Poland by rail. "In the current situation, when we have blocked ports, rail is the only window to the world. But naturally, what we have is not enough. We are committed to improving both freight and passenger transport conditions," he said and indicated the Ukrainian government's priorities for improving the capacity of railway lines to the borders.
