Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS has informed about the progress of the Control-Command and Signalling (CCS) subsystem design and build procurement, announcing that five international candidates – companies and association of persons – have submitted applications for the 1st stage of the tender.

Candidates who will participate in the 1st stage of the procurement are GTS Deutschland GmbH (Germany), Hitachi Rail STS S.P.A. (Italy), an association of persons consisting of the companies Indra Sistemas, S.A, AŽD Praha S.R.O (Spain and Czech Republic), the association of persons “SKGN Baltics” with the participation of Siemens Mobility OY Latvian Branch, Siemens Mobility GMBH, GRK Suomi OY, NRC Group Finland OY, Kontron Transportation GMBH (Latvia, Germany, Finland, Austria), and association of persons “ALSTOM – COBRA – FIMA” consisting of Alstom Transport SA, Alstom Baltics SIA, Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios S.A, PS “Fima KZA Krakow” (France, Latvia, Spain).

The public procurement procedure is carried out in two stages with negotiations, and the contract is expected to be signed in mid-2024.

“We are pleased to see such wide participation from the most experienced international market players given the complexity, scope, and significance of this strategic activity. We are on our way to establishing a fully unified and interoperable railway subsystem across the whole 870km long Rail Baltica mainline across the three Baltic States,” said Jean Marc-Bedmar, Head of the Systems and Operations Department at RB Rail AS.

As informed before, the technical scope of the Rail Baltica Control-Command and Signalling subsystem deployment includes ETCS (European Train Control System), FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System), interlocking and block system, traffic management system, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) systems including data transmission network, voice communication, cyber security, ancillary systems for railway operation communication, monitoring applications, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), station equipment on stations including passenger information, CCTV (Close Circuit Television Cameras), master clock, ticketing system, platform gates for some stations, non-traction power supply for CCS subsystems, cableway system for all systems as well as technical buildings/premises.
