ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has announced the extension of its close and fruitful cooperation with Rohrdorfer, the Austrian market leader in ready-mix concrete and aggregates. After the expiration of the current contract on January 1, 2023, the companies have decided not to stop with the results achieved and to cooperate on new developments for at least the next five years.
For example, in 2020, ÖBB RCG took over the entire raw material supply for the parent plant. It led to an increase in volumes to 1.4 million tons in 2021, thus doubling volumes.

The new contract involves the joint development of concepts enabling the transportation of regenerated CO2 and the complete digitization of train ordering processes.
It is known that the first joint project is in progress within the framework of the digital assistant MIKE. A workshop was held in early 2022 to lay the foundations for a platform for the full digitalization of the block train ordering process. At the seminar, the logistics team from Rohrdorfer shared their empirical values. Thus, RCG is developing a digital platform, which it intends to offer to all customers in the medium term.
The aim of the contract and the cooperation between partners it envisages is an intensive exchange of ideas on digitalization topics during the new contract period.
