Thales, a global technology leader, has been selected by Adif, the Spanish Administrator of Railway Infrastructures, to design and execute a project that will establish a connection between Las Aletas station in Puerto Real and the Bajo de la Cabezuela dock in Cádiz. The 4.4-kilometer project has a budget of 7.29 million Euros and is expected to boost freight transport and increase port activities in the Bay of Cádiz.

The contract encompasses the design, definition, drafting, and execution of traffic control, signaling, safety, and both fixed and mobile telecommunications works for the branch line that will connect Las Aletas with Bajo de la Cabezuela. In addition, the subsequent commissioning of the branch line will also be covered under the contract.
The project will involve the installation of new railway safety systems, as well as new equipment for the ERTMS N1 train protection system on the La Cabezuela branch line and the Seville-Santa Justa CTC.
