On 5 October, the first stage of Line 3 Phase 3 (Phase 3A) of the Greater Cairo Metro in Egypt was inaugurated, marking a major milestone for SYSTRA who have supported the development of this network since the initial studies in 1970.
SYSTRA has worked on Line 3 as part of a Consulting Engineer Joint Venture (CEJV) with engineering firms, Egis, ACE, and EHAF since 2017, providing Technical and Project Management support for our client the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT). SYSTRA was the Project Manager for the previous phases of Line 3 where Phase 1 was opened in February 2012 followed by Phase 2 in May 2014 and Phase 4A in June 2019.

In 2021, NAT received the top prize in the Rail/Transit category at the annual Global Best Projects competition event organized by the American magazine Engineering News-Record (ENR) for Phase 4B of Line 3 which was opened in August 2020, and for which SYSTRA was project manager from 2015-2021.
