Stadler has emerged as the winner of the largest tender in Swiss rail history. Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), in association with Thurbo and RegionAlps, has awarded Stadler a framework agreement for up to 510 new single-decker FLIRT multiple units. The initial call-off order is for 286 vehicles, representing an order volume of around 2 billion Swiss francs. The contract is to be concluded after the 20-day objection period has expired.

Stadler has come out on top in another international tender. The company has just been declared the winner of the largest tender in Swiss rail history. SBB, in association with Thurbo and RegionAlps, has awarded Stadler a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 510 single-decker FLIRT multiple units. “We are proud that our proven FLIRT concept has once again achieved international success. We would like to thank SBB for the trust they have placed in us,” says Peter Spuhler, Executive Chairman of the Board of Stadler. In the first call-off order, SBB, Thurbo, and RegionAlps plan to order 286 vehicles. The order volume of this initial call-off order amounts to approximately two billion Swiss francs. The vehicles will be manufactured entirely in Bussnang, with a share of around 75 percent of value-added for Switzerland.

The FLIRT model from Stadler is a single-decker multiple units for local and long-distance services. Taking into account the framework agreement for SBB, Stadler has now sold its best-selling vehicle over 2,500 times in 20 countries – from the Arctic Circle to Africa.
