Siemens Mobility and everis have signed a five-year contract with Spanish rail operator Renfe to develop and operate a Mobility-as-a-Service-Platform (MaaS) platform. Using this platform, users will be able to plan and pay door-to-door trips using rail and subway trains, buses, rented bicycles, etc. in one mobile application.
Once completed, the platform will be launched in 27 Spanish cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, and Seville. Renfe expects that the implementation of the platform will attract at least 650,000 new customers to the railways, who will make 1.8 million trips in 5 years, which will increase ticket sales on the main routes by 3-4% and increase Renfe's revenues by up to € 156 million. As part of the project, Siemens Mobility will supply core MaaS technology based on solutions from its subsidiaries, including Hacon's HAFAS travel planning software. Siemens has already successfully implemented similar technologies in different countries of the world - from Denmark to the USA. Consulting company everis will act as a system integrator and will be responsible for supporting the platform in operation, including marketing, and resolving legal issues.
