Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has announced that the construction of the Big Circle Line will be completed in 2022. Its passenger operation is planned for early 2023.
"We will finish the commissioning work at the beginning of next year. It will be the completion of a giant, the largest construction project in the history of the subway, not only in Moscow but in the world," - said the mayor.
According to him, at present, the project is two-thirds ready. Running stations are used by more than half a million people every day. At the same time, Sobyanin expects that when the Big Circle Line is completed, about 1 million passengers will use it daily. It, in turn, will contribute to the unclogging of the radial lines. Passengers will be able to transfer to more than 40 stations of other subway lines, all existing and potential stations of the Moscow Central Diameter and the Moscow Central Ring.
