The Western railroad track got closed in the Milk - Pöchlarn section. Up to seven fire crews were yesterday extinguishing the fire. It took ÖBB and the fire crews roughly an hour to solve all the issues and put the tracks back in operation. Luckily, none of the passengers nor staff got hurt. The exact reasons for the combustion aren't yet clear, but most possibly, it was due to technical difficulties in the track tamping machine.

One of the possible causes of the fire was hydraulic oil leakage. The leakage could have been of up to 15 liters, as reported by the ORF Lower Austria radio station. The unfortunate incident didn't cause any environmental impacts. An alternative bus service was temporarily operated between Pöchlarn and Loosdorf.
