Located strategically near Salaspils, this hub will operate as Latvia's premier European standard gauge rail freight handling centre. SILC sits at the nexus of state highways A6, A4, and P5, promising seamless connectivity for rail and road freight. In addition, its proximity to crucial infrastructures like the Šķirotava station, Riga Freeport, railway stop Saulkalne and existing industrial locales ensures that SILC is poised for success.
SILC’s strategic positioning in the Salaspils municipality is a deliberate decision as it offers both the existing 1520mm and the new 1435mm standard gauge rail systems, integrating effortlessly with the larger European rail network. Its location, just a few minutes from pivotal points such as the Šķirotava station and an hour from the Riga Freeport, underlines its importance. Moreover, the immediate surroundings abound in essential resources — from industrial and logistics centres to critical energy infrastructure, signalling the potential for exponential growth in the industrial and logistics sectors within Salaspils and Ogre municipalities.
