photo: Archives/Representative of the Ukrainian Railways: We will not return freight railway cars to the owners from Russia and Belarus
Recently, the owners of Belarusian and Russian railway cars began to contact representatives of the Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia – UZ) with a request to divert/return their cars, which are now in Ukraine. But Ukraine does not intend to return these cars to Russian or Belarusian companies.
The Deputy Director of the UZ Sales Department Valeriy Tkachev commented on the situation as such: “If we look at the material damage done to Ukraine by aggressive Russia and its ally Belarus, and most importantly, given the thousands of innocent victims killed by the invaders – all rolling stock, cargo, and other items will not be returned to the occupying countries.”
The Deputy Director also praised a member of the UZ staff, who responded to the request of the car owners by sending them to the same place where on the first day of the war the Ukrainian defenders of the island of Zmejny sent a Russian warship.
