From May 31st to June 2nd 2022, in Münster, Germany, was held The International Exhibition for Track Technology (iaf), the largest and incredibly influential in the railway technology and infrastructure fields fair that presented the latest developments and technologies in the sector. It was there that Railcare Group displayed the world's hugest Multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) for rail infrastructure.

Railcare's MPV was exhibited on the track at the exhibition, covering over 15,000 m2 of hall space, 6,000 m2 of outdoor space and more than 3,000 m of railway tracks. Visitors had the opportunity to see the battery-powered machine work and get an insight into how the battery bank could operate other machines on the railway.

The new MPV concept is available with a diesel or battery power plant. The machine is self-propelled and equipped with vacuum pumps, hydraulics and control cabs. This, in turn, will allow its use as a complement to the Railcare snow melters and vacuum excavators. Among other things, the MPV will be able to act as a locomotive for wagons with crushed stone during track works.

MPV's battery power option was developed in collaboration with Epiroc and Northvolt and is proven in harsh environments. It also eliminates fossil emissions and significantly reduces noise levels. It allows working underground and in urban environments with high demands on safety and the working environment, along with high efficiency.

Currently, according to the contract with Trafikverket, this MPV is used on the Stockholm City Line in the railway tunnel on the 6-kilometre line between Sitibanan and Stockholm to vacuum the line from fine particles and metal dust that arise during braking and accumulate in the tunnel.
