Сonstruction of the Rail Baltica embankment has been extended by 17.1 km. Eurovia CZ a.s are carrying out the project. and Eurovia Lietuva AB, with a contract valued at nearly EUR 98 million.
This new phase will further extend the active construction towards Panevėžys, adding to the 29.2 km of the railway already underway in the Jonava district. The project is expected to enhance both regional connectivity and military mobility across the Baltic countries.

"The progress of the Rail Baltica project is of strategic importance for Lithuania and the Baltic region," said Loreta Maskaliovienė, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications. She emphasized the significance of linking the Baltic nations to the broader European rail network. Egidijus Lazauskas, CEO of LTG Group, added that Eurovia’s expertise in road construction "provides confidence in their ability to manage this international project, which is crucial for a more sustainable and competitive future for Lithuania."

The European Commission has given Poland the green light for a 197.8 million euro program to support intermodal transport.
Work on this section is set to be completed by 2027, with funding coming from both the European Union and the Lithuanian state budget. Eurovia Lietuva has previously worked on the Rail Baltica project, building access roads and service roads to support the new railway. "We are commencing preparatory work and are eager to start on-site. We have set ourselves the highest standards of quality, health and safety, and environmental protection for this project. Today, we are starting much more than just building a railway," said Artūras Prichodka, CEO of Eurovia Lietuva, noting that this project will create new opportunities for Lithuania.
