The S3 Świnoujście - Szczecin route in Poland is getting a modernization project and the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA) will be responsible for it.
The European Investment Bank and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) have signed an agreement for a loan of €250 million to finance the S3 modernization connecting Świnoujście and Szczecin.
This is not the first cooperation among these organizations. The EIB, BGK, and the GDDKiA are working together for years now. The proof of this is the forty contracts since 2005 with a similar structure that have been signed and used to modernize the roads in Poland and therefore contributing to its development.
“Investments in infrastructure support the sustainable, socio-economic development of our country. Thanks to the modernization of the S3 route connecting Świnoujście with Szczecin, the safety of traveling residents of the region and tourists will increase. It will also improve the international transit connection, including access to the port. The current value of financing provided by the EIB for the needs of the National Road Fund has translated into the construction of approx. 966 km of motorways, 2,225 km of expressways and 458 km of bypasses,” said Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, president of the management board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
The S3 expressway connects the A4, A2, and A6 motorways. The project includes the reconstruction and reconfiguration of access roads and intersections connecting to local roads, design, and construction of an efficient drainage system, as well as the relocation of utilities, installation of road safety equipment, lighting, etc.
