A new safe crossing over the tracks of the Lukow - Lublin North line will be built by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. in Lubartów. The infrastructure manager has signed a construction contract with the facility's contractor. Completion of the PLN 6.382 million net investment co-financed by the Lubelskie Voivodeship ROP is scheduled for 2023.

Lubartów residents will gain a new safe railroad crossing to the other side of the city. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. signed an agreement with the contractor of the footbridge - Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Inżynieryjnych DIAG-MOST Sp. z o.o. The new facility will increase safety and facilitate communication in the city.

The footbridge will be 51 meters long, built between the Lubartów Słowackiego and Lubartów Lipowa stops. It will provide efficient passage between the Królów and 3 Maja estates in Lubartów. The safe passage will be illuminated with energy-saving lamps. It will be able to be used by people with limited mobility. Access to the facility on one side will be provided by a sidewalk (the footbridge structure will be at ground level), and on the other side, where there is a slope, there will be stairs and a ramp.

"The contract for the construction of the footbridge in Lubartów is the culmination of several years of efforts and appeals by residents of the Królów Polskich and 3 Maja estates. Listening to the voices of local communities, we are modernizing the Polish railroad, making it safer and more accessible to all. The investment, which will be completed by the end of 2023, will connect two separate parts of the city and certainly contribute to the development of this area of Lubartów. All this is thanks to the effective use of EU funds from the Regional Operational Program of the Lubelskie Voivodeship for 2014-2020," said Piotr Kaliszewski, assistant deputy minister of infrastructure.

"PLK SA makes good use of EU funds which improves the living conditions of residents and enables the development of environmentally friendly rail transportation. The construction of the footbridge in Lubartow will be a continuation of the investment carried out on the Lubartów-Parczew section of the line, where passengers have been enjoying rail travel since 2021," commented Ireneusz Merchel, President of the Management Board of PKP Polskie Linii Kolejowe S.A.

In December 2021. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. signed an agreement to develop documentation for the new facility. The contractor, YLE INŻYNIEROWIE Sp. z o.o., prepared the project and obtained the necessary administrative decisions. Construction of the footbridge is planned for the end of August 2023.

Construction of the new footbridge is part of the project "Revitalization of railroad line No. 30 on the section Lubartów - Parczew" for more than PLN 90 million (net). The project is co-financed by EU funds from the Regional Operational Program of the Lubelskie Voivodeship 2014-2020.
