PKP Intercity is nearing the completion of an innovative, eco-friendly automatic car wash on its siding in Wroclaw, with the project totaling an investment of over PLN 33 million.
Initiated in 2020, the Wroclaw facility underscores PKP Intercity's commitment to sustainable development, boasting a 200-meter wash hall equipped with advanced brush and nozzle systems, an anti-icing feature, and a sewage treatment plant that recycles wash water. This initiative aims to maintain the fleet's cleanliness year-round and integrates solar panels for energy self-sufficiency.
Jorge Calabuig Ferre, Vice President of Mostostal Warszawa, highlighted the challenges of executing the project amidst the continuous operation of rail services. "The construction was a particularly demanding task, as we carried it out in a facility that plays an important role in the national railroad system and operates continuously. Careful coordination of the work made it possible to complete the task with logistics secured, as well as to guarantee the highest safety standards," he stated.
