The Lodz Voivodship Board has increased support for one of the key investments for the region, namely the construction of a transshipment terminal in the railroad district of Zduńska Wola. The provincial board has decided that the construction of the terminal in Karsznice will be supported with an amount of 5.7 million zlotys higher, i.e., the subsidy will amount to 51 million 700 thousand zlotys. It is EU co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund for PKP Cargo Terminals carrying out the investment. Originally, in the resolution adopted in June, the subsidy was PLN 46 million.

"This is a crucial project for the residents of Zduńska Wola and the immediate vicinity of the city, but also the entire province," says Grzegorz Schreiber, marshal of the Łódź province. "We support the construction of this terminal so that the potential of the railroad Karsznice is not wasted. This investment will positively affect the future of the city and county. We consistently strive for the transport development in our province, both passenger and freight."

In connection with the decision to increase the subsidy, Marshal Grzegorz Schreiber met today with Hanna Jazdżyk, president of PKP Cargo Terminals, and handed over a symbolic check with the full amount of support from the Lodz Voivodeship Government.

"The terminal in Zduńska Wola Karsznice will make the freight offer of PKP Cargo Group and other rail transport companies more attractive. That's because this investment will be located along the international corridor connecting our Baltic ports in Gdansk, Gdynia, Szczecin, and Swinoujscie with the ports of the Adriatic Sea basin. The terminal will also result in a significant increase in the quality of logistics services provided by railroads, as central Poland lacks such a modern facility. Through this, interest in multimodal transport from Polish and foreign entities should also increase," said Hanna Jazdżyk, president of PKP CARGO Terminals.

Work on the construction of a modern transshipment terminal in Karsznice has already begun. It is being carried out on behalf of PKP Cargo Terminale by ZUE. The total value of the investment is nearly PLN 128 million 600 thousand. Two gantry cranes, nine tracks, unloading and storage yards, as well as accompanying infrastructure, including roads and parking lots, will be built on a 22-hectare site owned by the railroad. According to the contract, the terminal is to be put into operation at the end of October 2023.

The advantages of the terminal's location in Karsznice are its location next to the important railroad line No. 131 and close to the S8 expressway, which means excellent communication in all directions via highways and expressways: the A1/A2 and A1/S14, S8/S14 and S8/A2 interchanges. The terminal will provide comprehensive logistics services for container connections on the New Silk Road between China and Europe, as well as from the Baltic ports to the south of our country and the entire Central European region.
