The strategy of the Polish rolling stock manufacturer PESA envisages, among other things, the development of new technologies and powerful IT tools, the optimization of the costs of current products, the reconstruction of the group's business and organizational model, the construction of the profitable "Aftersale" segment or the development of the Regio 160 vehicle platform and the acquisition of competences for the production of rolling stock with a speed of over 200 km/h. The strategy is implemented on the basis of sub-objectives within 16 strategic projects and is planned in detail for the next five years. All this is intended to strengthen the company's position as a leader in the domestic market and expand to other foreign markets.
PESA currently produces ELF2 electric units for regional carriers in Poland, new electric units of the 654 series for the Czech carrier Regio Jet, Link units for German NEB and next-generation vehicles with environmentally friendly Stage V engines for České Dráhy, as well as Gamma locomotives for RCP, Pol-Miedź Trans, PCC Intermodal and trams for urban transport in Poland and Romania.
"The fact that we deliver vehicles on time and that our customers are satisfied is the result of changes introduced in all areas. We have improved direct customer relationships, analyzed market trends, adapted vehicle designs to customer needs, have better relationships with subcontractors and cooperative partners, launched a technological breakthrough in manufacturing, focused on robotics and automation, reliably and disciplined manage financial processes. All this creates a new image of PESA'' - emphasized Krzysztof Zdziarski, CEO of PESA Bydgoszcz.
PESA currently focuses on low-emission vehicles. The most important project implemented in production is a platform called Regio160. Its main premise is one standard design which, thanks to the modularity of the body, allows the configuration of vehicles with different drives and bodies adapted to the needs of the carrier.
PESA is also preparing for the production of vehicles with more than 200 km / h. The company will implement these projects with external partners and does not exclude cooperation with suppliers of ready-made solutions or technologies as well as with manufacturers of rolling stock.
"We are establishing cooperation with other technological partners, including foreign ones, who have experience, among other things, with the implementation of high-speed railway projects or the implementation of hydrogen technologies. This openness to cooperation and competence building for the future through a partnership is one of the changes in PESA's approach to development. We have gained a lot of experience in the production of rail vehicles, we have a team of very good specialists, we have set new goals, but we approach them with humility "- says CEO Krzysztof Zdziarski.
The coming weeks will be very busy for the PESA group - the company will start delivering vehicles for the Małopolskie Railways or trams to Iasi, Romania then tests for the 654 electric unit for the Regio Jet, which will be the first double-voltage car to run on international routes. The Polish manufacturer has announced its participation in the autumn TRAKO trade fair, where it plans to present to the public for the first time a hydrogen locomotive and a 654 unit for Regio Jet.
