The agreement on the mutual cooperation was reached between Romania and the USA. The USA will support the construction of a railway and road connection between Constanta and Gdańsk, which will lead through Romania, Hungary and Slovakia to Poland.
The agreement was signed on October 9th, 2020 in Washington. Cooperation between Romania and Poland is strategically important for the connection between the Baltic and the Black Sea. Because of this new project, the economies of the participating countries and the countries in the region should see an increase in prosperity.
The connection between Gdańsk and Constanta is part of the Three Seas Initiative project. It aims to modernize this route as well as complete it. In total, approximately 3,600 km of railways should be modernized. This will significantly speed up connections between Asia and Central and Eastern Europe.
