MERMEC STE, a company of the MERMEC Group (a leader in the sectors of advanced technologies for the safety and digitalization of rail transport) and part of Angel Holding, is in the group of companies that have realized the new section of the M4 line of the Milan underground which will connect Linate airport to San Babila in just 12 minutes. It is the last tranche of a work that, when completed in 2024, will reach the gates of Corsico, west of the Lombard capital.

The new M4 'Blue Line' represents a further step forward in the urban regeneration project already launched by the Milanese capital for an increasingly smart and green future, with positive impacts in terms of social, environmental, and economic sustainability. The line, which will eventually have a total length of about 15 km along the east/south-west route joining the San Cristoforo and Linate Airport stations, will reduce annual CO2 consumption by 10,000 tonnes, making the city of Milan even more sustainable and integrated for the benefit of its citizens, European travelers, and the territory.

MERMEC Group CEO Luca Necchi Ghiri said, "It is a great honor for us to be part of the consortium that built the M4. It is strategic work for the city and the country, which guarantees sustainability, safety, and comfort for passengers. Our motto is Technologies for People, which means technology at the service of people. As a leader in telecommunications, electric traction, and railway signaling, as well as in railway diagnostics, a key element for passenger safety and transit, we are proud to have provided our technology for the operation of the metro and the protection of travelers. I am convinced that the service standard of the M4 metro will be very high and contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens and all passengers."

MERMEC STE manufactures signaling systems and electrical and telecommunication networks in the railway field, and is part of Angel Holding, the group led by Cavalier Vito Pertosa that operates in 71 countries in the railway, aerospace, and digital mechatronics sectors with more than 2,000 employees, including 1,400 highly specialised engineers.
