Next year in conjunction with the Charles III University of Madrid (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid or UC3M), Alstom is launching a new master's degree in railway engineering. The degree aims to develop an academic offering in railway engineering and will be available to engineers in telecommunications, computer science and industry.
"This industry [railway engineering] will be one of the most dynamic in the next decade, offering new professional opportunities in the STEM field. Alstom in Spain currently has more than 250 positions to be covered this year, most of them for specialised technicians and engineers. The Alstom Group expects to recruit more than 7,500 new professionals worldwide in the coming year. The sector needs talent, and it is our responsibility to promote and support this industry," says Stephany Burik, Alstom in Spain Talent Management Director.
The new academic program will examine the design of railway systems from a multidisciplinary and integrated perspective (design and development of digital safety and control systems, electrical traction, rolling stock design, service, and systems maintenance). Students will be provided with virtual and experimental tools. The course includes not only theory, but hands-on exercises and visits to rolling stock, systems, components, and railroad operator facilities.
The teaching staff of this master's program will be represented by Alstom specialists in Spain, professors from Charles III University of Madrid and experts in rail transport. The program has a total of 30 places, and the admission process, which has already begun, will be open until the required number of applicants apply.
