In July 2024, the first corridor renovation in Germany will begin: the Riedbahn, a heavily trafficked connection between Mannheim and Frankfurt, will undergo a complete renovation and will be fully closed for several months.

The schedule behind this is based on detailed planning of extensive construction work from various trades. The availability of rolling stock for transporting rails, ballast, and other materials plays an important role.

Ermewa is proud to support this flagship project by renting a total of 120 Sgnss 60' container wagons and another 60 Sgmmnss 40' container wagons to DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH. The final tranche of six wagons was handed over to DB Fahrwegdienste on June 20th in Stolberg. All wagons are brand new and come from the workshops of Tatrawagonka and Đuro Đaković. They are equipped with GPS sensors and, like all container wagons in the Ermewa fleet, are fitted with K-blocks.

With the first-time rental of wagons to DB Fahrwegdienste, Ermewa is further expanding its long-standing business relationship with DB AG.

Thomas Nedwed, Head of Logistics at DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH, said, "We look forward to collaborating with Ermewa. For us, it is important to provide the DB InfraGO Riedbahn project with reliable modern rolling stock and containers to ensure efficient transport to and from the construction site."

Bernhard Hoffmann, Head of Sales DACH and NL Ermewa, commented, "We are very pleased to be involved in the Riedbahn project. With our rolling stock, we aim to make a valuable contribution to a smooth and swift comprehensive renovation of the infrastructure."
