According to Mr. Sankovski, the advanced system used for train traffic management in Lithuania will significantly reduce the company's IT costs.
The GSM-R standard cellular communication is a type of mobile communication designed for railways - the letter "R" in the standard's name indicates this. The system is designed to meet critical communication standards - to ensure reliable communication between the traffic control center and fast-moving trains.

The modern GSM-R system meets the very stringent reliability and availability requirements of a radio network, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operation. Upgraded equipment will ensure more reliable operational communication and automated system management.
LTG Infra's GSM-R radio system ensures stable and uninterrupted operation with two network cores, 136 base stations, 200 fixed dispatch consoles, and around 600 GSM-R radios on locomotives and other self-propelled rolling stock.
The project was implemented by Kontron Transportation Austria AG and Kontron Transportation Sp. z o. o., which won an international public tender. consortium. The radio system modernization work took 15 months and the consortium will provide after-sales technical support services for a further nine years.
