LTG Infra signed a contract worth 8.59 million euros (including VAT) with A.C.B. AS, a Latvian company, to construct access roads in the Žeimiai-Šėta section (Jonava-Kėdainiai District).

The winning tenderer will build 14 local access roads and provide exits from access roads where it is not possible to build separate roads for the maintenance of railway infrastructure elements. The company will also reconstruct the reclamation structures, and the works are expected to be completed in just over a year, which is 14 months.

According to Dovydas Palaima, General Manager at LTG Infra Rail Baltica Management, "local access motor roads are an important part of Rail Baltica's railway infrastructure." Palaima further explained that the access roads are designed to ensure a convenient connection between the different sides of the railway after its construction. In addition, as soon as weather conditions permit, intensive construction work will commence in the most mature section of the project, which is from Kaunas to the Latvian border.

The Rail Baltica project is the largest railway infrastructure project in the history of the Baltic States, which aims to construct a fully electrified double-track European gauge railway connecting Warsaw, Kaunas, Vilnius, Panevėžys, Riga, Pärnu and Tallinn. The total length of Rail Baltica in the Baltic States is 870 km, with 392 km in Lithuania, 265 km in Latvia, and 213 km in Estonia.

Furthermore, the construction of access roads is almost completed in another railway section of the Rail Baltica project, the Šveicarija-Žeimiai section of the Kaunas-Ramygala line. Eurovia Lietuva, the winning tenderer for this section, is nearing completion of the construction of 16 new local access roads and 2 service roads.

This latest contract is significant in the development of Rail Baltica, as it demonstrates progress in the implementation of the railway infrastructure project. The Rail Baltica project aims to create a more efficient and sustainable transportation system, connecting the different regions of the Baltic States and beyond, and promoting economic growth and development in the region.
