LTG Cargo has transported a 77-tonne mobile container loader from the Klaipėda Seaport to the Kaunas Intermodal Terminal (KIT) in Palemone, introducing advanced intermodal capabilities at KIT.

"The transport of the non-standard cargo involved a complete package of services from the coordination of the loading and unloading at the terminal in Klaipėda to the delivery to the final destination in Palemone. From the receipt of the inquiry to the full coordination of the shipment took only 3 days," said Laimonas Nekrošius, Sales and Development Manager of LTG Cargo Services. He highlighted the environmental benefits, noting, "It is also important to mention that rail transport significantly reduces both the carbon footprint and the negative impact on our environment."

The new mobile container handler, equipped with a special gripper for handling various container sizes and semi-trailers, enhances the terminal's capabilities to manage both rail and road freight. Previously, such advanced equipment was only available in Klaipėda and Vilnius. The lift's versatility, including hydraulic folding arms and a lifting capacity of up to 46 tonnes, will enable KIT to offer high-quality intermodal services on both narrow and wide gauge tracks, significantly improving logistics efficiency and service quality for customers.
