The Radviliškis rolling stock depot, the only facility in Lithuania where various freight wagons are repaired, is undergoing significant modernization as part of LTG Cargo’s efforts to enhance operations.

The depot, which employs over 200 workers, is important for maintaining freight transportation in the Baltic region. The upgrades include advanced technologies and improved working conditions, ensuring the depot remains competitive in the European railway market.

"Technologies we use to repair rolling stock have changed significantly," said Edvardas Šlianderis, LTG Cargo's freight wagon repair and production manager. The depot now features the first welding robot in the Baltic States, which automates complex repairs, and a robotic laser that cleans metal parts more efficiently. These advancements reduce the time and effort required for maintenance, allowing the team to perform more repairs daily. Additionally, drones will soon be used for inspecting wagons, providing a safer and faster method for identifying damages.

In addition to technological improvements, the depot will enhance working conditions. "We are diversifying our activities to the west, which means not only technologies must change, but also working conditions and work culture," added Šlianderis. New measures include renovated facilities, upgraded ventilation systems, and improved safety standards.
