DAKO-CZ announces the start of serial production of its DAKO ITBL integrated tread brake, a lightweight, efficient solution for freight wagons that sets new industry standards.

DAKO ITBL is designed specifically for freight wagons, setting new standards in reliability and efficiency within the railway industry. According to Stanislav Pometlo, CEO of DAKO-CZ, this innovation offers a significant advantage over traditional models, being 30-50 kg lighter than similar brakes currently available on the market.

DAKO ITBL Innovative Design and Lightweight Solution

The DAKO ITBL’s compact design incorporates several innovative solutions to enchance both performance and ease of maintenance, as reported by DAKO-CZ. By reducing weight, the new brake system offers improved efficiency without compromising on durability, which is particularly important for the freight sector where weight savings can lead to significant cost reductions over time.

In addition to its lightweight properties, the company says that DAKO ITBL is engineered for reliability, ensuring that freight wagons equipped with the system experience reduced wear and tear and lower maintenance costs.

InnoTrans 2024: A Showcase for Innovation and Environmental Sustainability

While the serial production of the DAKO ITBL is a recent milestone, it was first presented to the industry at InnoTrans 2024, the world’s leading trade fair for railway technology, held in Berlin in September. Despite the event occurring earlier in the fall, the buzz surrounding these innovations continues to make waves in the railway sector as the DAKO ITBL has been hailed as one of the most anticipated products in the freight wagon segment.

At InnoTrans, DAKO-CZ unveiled two major innovations: the DAKO ITBL integrated tread brake and the DAKO KKBE electromechanical disc brake unit, both of which are set to revolutionize the braking systems of freight and passenger trains alike, as pppartners.cz notes. According to DAKO-CZ, the DAKO ITBL was particularly well-received for its lightweight design and potential to reshape freight wagon braking technology.

The DAKO ITBL and other products on display, such as the KKBE electromechanical disc brake, are part of the company’s broader initiative to develop air-free and oil-free systems. These systems eliminate the need for compressed air or oil management, reducing the environmental impact and making the brakes more efficient. "Without doubt, we perceive electromechanical brake systems as the future. They represent a railway system revolution. In the future, they will gradually replace both pneumatic and hydraulic brake systems," said Lukáš Andrýsek, Chairman of the Board of DAKO-CZ. "The future of mobility in a time of climate change, our DAKO KKBE solution constitutes DAKO-CZ’s contribution to these goals thanks to its environmental friendliness."
