Kontron Transportation Acquires Swiss Company Comlab AG

Comlab AG, a specialist in data communication repeaters for railways, has been acquired by Kontron Transportation.

Kontron Transportation has completed an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the shares of Comlab AG, a Swiss company that specializes in data communication repeaters for railways. The company is projected to achieve a turnover of EUR 20 million in 2022.

With this acquisition, Comlab will become an integral part of Kontron Transportation, which aims to bolster its presence in the railway communications market. Comlab brings to the table its own product portfolio, strong engineering capabilities, and a presence in the Swiss, German, and Chinese markets, areas where Kontron Transportation is keen to expand its footprint. Comlab’s products are crucial in the critical infrastructure of digital networks, enhancing signal strength by amplifying and repeating signals.

Since its inception in 1971, Comlab has been at the forefront of developing radio frequencies and is recognized as a leader in digital communication systems for railways. It boasts over 110 employees across Switzerland, Germany, and China, with anticipated sales reaching EUR 25 million by 2024.
