The German manufacturer of braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles, Knorr-Bremse AG, has announced a close collaboration with Deutsche Bahn and DB Systemtechnik on the Reproducible Braking Distance (RBD) project.

In the past three weeks, they have conducted more than 300 braking tests to collect data for further developments and improvements.

Reproducible Braking Distance is a concept for an innovative braking architecture for rail transport, which will further contribute to more frequent train departures and greater rail mobility. The concept is based on accounting for wheel-to-rail traction and deceleration in brake control. These tests are an invaluable input for further developments to put the technology into operation.
