On December 9, a rainy event considered exceptional by Météo France caused a significant rise in the water level of the Nive river, leading to the destruction of part of the railway platform near Ossès. Train traffic had to be totally interrupted between Cambo and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, while rail links were maintained between Bayonne and Cambo.
Technical expertise and in-depth investigations of the track and equipment have made it possible to define the scope of the work to be carried out to restore the track. The extensive damage required major interventions (see details in the press release).
The cost of the work amounts to EUR 1.1 million, paid for by SNCF Réseau as part of a claim account.

A safety awareness campaign to accompany the return of trains
SNCF Réseau wants to accompany the return of rail traffic by launching a campaign to raise awareness of the risks associated with dangerous behavior in stations, at level crossings, and in the vicinity of tracks. The aim is to remind people that with the return of trains, vigilance is required for the safety of all.
The campaign will be deployed on the social networks Facebook and Instagram from June 9 to 18, targeting the communes crossed by the line, in order to call for caution among passengers using the train, road users, and local residents.
