The new passenger building at Prague-Radotín station will be built by STRABAG Rail. It succeeded in the tender procedure with the offered price of CZK 39.6 million excluding VAT. The construction works will start in September and will last approximately 14 months. The new building will provide facilities for the check-in hall, ticket offices, public toilets and additional commercial space.
The single-storey glass building will be connected to the existing historical station building. It will remain on the site and be converted into a municipal police station. The main reasons for constructing the new building are to increase passenger space, reduce maintenance costs and minimize unused space. The building will be very energy efficient with almost zero energy consumption.
The core of the new building will be a lobby with access to the underpass, into which will be embedded individual building modules containing ticket offices, commercial areas, public toilets and operational facilities. There will be a staircase from the lobby to the underpass, four entrances to the street and two to Platform 1. Public toilets will be built in the western part of the building. The building will include two units for commercial use.
Prague-Radotín station is currently undergoing extensive modernisation that began in August 2019. The station will receive new platforms with a standard height of 550 mm above the top of the track, and barrier-free access to them will be provided by lifts from the reconstructed underpass.
