CAF, the Spanish train manufacturer, has been awarded two contracts totalling over €100 million by two European cities, Athens and Seville.
In Athens, CAF will refurbish 14 light metro units that currently run on Line 1 of the Greek capital's metro system. This marks the company's first major contract in Greece, and the project is expected to take 34 months to complete.

In Seville, the city council awarded CAF a contract to supply two new low-floor trams with an energy storage system, which will allow the vehicles to run along sections without power lines between stops. The trams, which will consist of five modules, are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2023, and will be added to the network's current fleet of four units, which were also supplied by CAF. In addition, the contract also includes maintenance for the next 30 years, as well as the option to increase the number of units supplied.
