The turnover of the German concern Funkwerk in the first half of 2021 increased by 25.3% compared to the same period in 2020 and reached 58 million euros, and the order book increased by 32%, to €63.4 million. EBIT was €12.8 million (against €7.5 million a year earlier). Funkwerk expects turnover to reach €115-120 million by the end of 2021.
The strong financial results were largely due to Funkwerk's involvement in projects funded by the German government to improve cellular reception on trains. In particular, the Funkwerk concern received orders from several railway companies for the supply of anti-jamming radio communication modules. In addition, the concern received orders for its other technical solutions in the field of passenger information and video surveillance.
Due to the increase in turnover, Funkwerk plans to build new production facilities at its site in Kölleda (Thuringia).
