Alstom handed over the first locomotive equipped with the European train control system ETCS to Turkish Railways (TCDD).
The work was carried out under a contract for the supply of signaling and communication systems for the Eskisehir - Kutahya - Alayunt - Balikesir line with a length of 328 km. In total, it is planned to equip 26 locomotives with ETCS devices.
On the line, the floor equipment ETCS developed by Alstom, Smartlock microprocessor interlocking (MPC) systems, Iconis dispatch control systems, as well as the GSM-R network, which will also include the Alayunt-Afyon-Karahisar section adjacent to the line, are being implemented.
The introduction of modern signaling and communication systems will increase the level of security and line capacity
