Due to planned railway construction work between Dornbirn and Hohenems, track renewal work (including renewal of the subgrade) taking place here, the line between Dornbirn and Hohenems will only be available to single-track train traffic from Monday, July 11, 2022, up to and including Wednesday, August 3, 2022. It will affect local trains in this section in particular. In addition, some Railjet (RJX) connections between Bregenz and Innsbruck or Salzburg return will be subject to changed travel times. For customers, the railroad construction work will result in the following alternative measures:
Effects on train traffic:
- During the day (06:15 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.), the S1 connections will only run on the Bludenz - Hohenems and Dornbirn - Bregenz/Lindau sections. During this time, the S-Bahn stops at Dornbirn-Schoren and Hatlerdorf will be cancelled. Between Dornbirn and Hohenems, a rail replacement service (SEV) with buses will be set up for the customers of the S1 trains during this period. In the early morning and the evening, the S-Bahn trains will run mostly according to the regular timetable.
- In the city of Dornbirn, ÖBB has set up a regular rail replacement service (SEV) with buses for customers. The SEV buses connect the stations Hohenems and Dornbirn and also serve the intermediate stops "Zieglergasse" (as a replacement for the stop Hatlerdorf) and "Steggasse" (as a replacement for the stop Dornbirn-Schoren). Outside the restrictions caused by the construction site (before 06:15 a.m. and after 8:45 p.m.), the two stops Hatlerdorf and Dornbirn-Schoren will be served directly by the S1 trains.
- The S5 connections will be cancelled between Feldkirch and Lustenau for the duration of the construction work.
- The Regionalexpress (REX) trains will run mostly without interruption. However, there will be cancellations and travel time deviations on individual connections.
- The schedule deviations on certain REX or Railjet connections (travel times offset by approx. 30 minutes in each case) caused since May 21, 2022, by Deutsche Bahn (DB) construction work at the "German Corner" between Kufstein and Salzburg, will continue and end on August 1, 2022.
- From Thursday, August 4, 2022, the trains will run again according to the regular timetable.

It is not possible to take bicycles on the buses of the rail replacement service. ÖBB asks for everyone's understanding.
Work around the clock
Work will be carried out in shifts around the clock to be able to implement the planned workload during the closure period. The use of large construction machines is planned for the construction measures. ÖBB is trying to keep the inconvenience for residents as low as possible. Unfortunately, there may still be noise and dust during the work. ÖBB asks everyone for understanding.
