The European Commission has announced funding of € 242.2 million for 68 studies on improvements that will help build a stronger European rail network, strengthen cross-border connections, and strengthen key sections.
The research will focus on transport links and the removal of bottlenecks across the continent. € 242.2 million from the Connecting Europe Facility is the starting point for many projects that will help speed up the transition to a smart and sustainable transport network.
In addition, the European Union has announced the release of EUR 30 000 million for digital and energy transport projects for the period 2021-2027 through the Connecting Europe Facility 2021-2027 program and for achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal. More than half of the projects will help promote and strengthen cross-border connections and critical sections.
