Developing intermodal transport is one of the priorities of the Ermewa and Open Modal groups today. Ensuring the availability, safety and maintenance of the different fleets of intermodal wagons are essential factors for pooling rail freight flows, improving competitiveness and meeting the demanding needs of the markets.
In this context, the two companies announce that they are initiating a partnership to carry out the UIC (International Union of Railways) certification in SS (120km/h) and 1Bgu configuration of new Problock J822 soleplates, which meet the challenges in terms of reliability, safety, performance and economy.
These in-situ tests are carried out by operating six Sggrss 80' intermodal wagons assigned to the traffic between Bonneuil (FR) and Novara (IT). The wagons were made available at the end of March and will be subject to special monitoring by the operator T3M, the lessor Ermewa SA and the construction workshop Inveho.
The objective is to apply extreme conditions to these soles:
- transalpine traffic with high gradient, compact brake, speed 120km/h loaded and high mileage (more than 200,000 km/year).
This project reinforces the existing collaboration between T3M and the Ermewa group.
Indeed, for many years, the Inveho IDF workshop (ex-SEGI) has been in charge of the mobile maintenance of the wagons rented by T3M and operated at the Valenton terminal.
More recently, an order for the construction of 50 wagons - type Sggmrss 90' new last generation (with CFCB compact brake bogies) - has been placed with the Inveho UFO workshops (formerly Ateliers d'Orval) for delivery soon.
This collaboration is a good example of synergy between two major French groups that work daily to accelerate the modal shift and achieve the climate objectives of the Green Deal.
