There's a lot of excitement in the rail sector in the Czech Republic. This year, EP Cargo Invest has taken delivery of two brand-new Siemens Vectron locomotives, with the latest arrival at the end of August, just 15 months after the contract was signed. These powerful machines, boasting an output of 6,400 kW, are set to bolster train operations across Europe and are already geared up to conquer the tracks in Central Europe and the Balkans.

The new locomotive will become part of the fleet managed by sister company LokoTrain, a holding operator of locomotives. Both locomotives delivered this year were financed by Leasing České spořitelny, underscoring the company's growing role in financing rail vehicles.

In 2024, EP Cargo Invest received two Siemens Vectron MS locomotives, both delivered at the locomotive maintenance base in Prague – Vršovice. The final locomotive was handed over at the end of August 2024, less than 15 months after the contract was signed between EP Cargo Invest and Siemens Mobility. The EP Logistics International group is no stranger to the Vectron, having received its first Vectron locomotive in 2016—the very first of its kind to be delivered to the Czech market.

"I am pleased that we managed to deliver the Vectron locomotive roughly 15 months after signing the contract, and I believe that this, our tenth Vectron, will significantly contribute to EP Cargo Invest's goals in transportation across Europe. With the increasing number of Vectron locomotives delivered to Czech customers, our service infrastructure in Prague is also expanding. Currently, we maintain 140 Vectron locomotives. Thanks to our team of experienced service workers and modern technologies, we can be a fast and reliable partner not only in terms of locomotive deliveries but also in their long-term operation. This has a positive impact not only on their high availability but also on their high residual value, which is crucial for securing favorable financing," said Roman Kokšal, CEO of Siemens Mobility Czech Republic.

"We are delighted to have expanded EP Logistics International’s locomotive fleet with two additional Siemens Vectron MS locomotives this year. These locomotives will be managed by group company LokoTrain, which provides them to group carriers EP Cargo, RM Lines, and Locon, as well as leasing them to other European customers. We chose Siemens Vectron locomotives based on our positive operational experiences and satisfaction with the maintenance provided by Siemens Mobility. I believe that the new locomotives will support the further development of our group thanks to their versatile use in regions we have long focused on. These locomotives are operational not only in Central Europe but also in Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia," said Jana Vládková, Chairwoman of the Board of EP Cargo Invest.

The locomotives will be added to LokoTrain's portfolio, which now includes 34 locomotives, 22 of which are Siemens Vectrons, highly valued by customers for their economic operation and versatility. LokoTrain offers comprehensive rail transport services, including leasing modern multi-system locomotives, providing skilled railway personnel, and offering railway transport training. LokoTrain serves customers in four countries, with the interoperability of modern locomotives allowing them to operate across nearly all of Europe. The latest locomotive is currently assigned to operations for a Croatian customer.

EP Cargo Invest and LokoTrain are part of the EP Logistics International (EPLI) group, which specializes in providing comprehensive logistics services and freight transport solutions. EPLI employs over 1,800 skilled workers, operates in 11 countries, and runs 230 locomotives, 5,300 wagons, and 110 trucks.

"We are very pleased to have financed these two new Siemens Vectron multi-system electric locomotives. We are happy with this transaction, both for expanding our rail portfolio with two modern low-emission machines and significantly deepening our cooperation with the EPH group, one of our key clients. Through this deal, Leasing České spořitelny confirms its growing position in the rail vehicle financing segment. This is also reflected in our status as an official partner of the Association of Freight Rail Carriers ŽESNAD since this year," added Petr Vacek, Chairman of the Board of Leasing České spořitelny.

The locomotives for EP Cargo Invest have a power output of 6,400 kW and can reach a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h. They are equipped with the necessary national train control systems, including the European Train Control System (ETCS) according to Baseline 3 specifications. The locomotives are approved for operation in the Czech Republic, and all neighboring countries, as well as in Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia.
