DB firmly rejects the criticism of its DB Navigator app by the Digitalcourage e.V. association. When using DB Navigator, no customer data whatsoever flows to third-party providers. All service providers with whom DB cooperates on DB Navigator are contractually bound, do not act in their own interests and strictly according to DB's instructions, and are therefore not third parties within the meaning of the GDPR.

All technology providers listed in the DB Navigator in the category "required" process data exclusively to ensure the diverse functions and stability of the app for more than two million customers daily. No identifying personal information is processed in the process, only pseudonymized data that presents itself to the individual provider in isolation as anonymous data content. None of the providers can use the data elsewhere or even for their own marketing purposes. Tracking customers across websites or apps with these cookies is not possible.

DB attaches great importance to the sparing collection and careful handling of its customers' data. A spokeswoman: "We have commented in great detail on the data protection concerns published by Digitalcourage e.V. on the Internet. We also offered a personal meeting for technical exchange. To date, Digitalcourage e.V. has not responded to either our technical comments or our offer to talk. We, therefore, note the latest high-profile activities with surprise."

DB is aware of its special responsibility for the data of its customers, employees and business partners. The data protection unit within DB supports the business units in complying with the GDPR, among other things. To ensure that systems and processes meet all requirements even in the event of innovations in the legislation, DB's data protection officers maintain a close exchange with the responsible data protection authorities and a group of independent experts on the DB Data Protection Advisory Board.
