Transitioning to eco-friendly transportation is necessary for dealing with environmental issues and continual climate change. Siemens Mireo Plus H – the next generation of hydrogen trains might be just the perfect solution. In a shared plan, Deutsche Bahn and Siemens Mobility are testing a brand-new complete system consisting of newly developed hydrogen trains and a recently designed filling station. Siemens Mobility is now developing the next generation of hydrogen trains based on the approved, high-performance Mireo passenger train used in the battery-powered service as well.

Mireo train is a train that effectively combines it all
• Innovative train program for premium-class commuters
• Lower weight, more freedom of movement, shorter construction time, optimized components
• Vehicles, maintenance, and financing from a single source
Deutsche Bahn and Siemens will test these hydrogen trains in Baden-Württemberg in 2024.

"Siemens Mobility and Deutsche Bahn will jointly develop a new generation of the hydrogen transport system. It is a complete system consisting of a hydrogen-powered vehicle and fitting infrastructure. This includes a new innovative filling station that can refuel the vehicle in just 15 minutes", said Siemens Mobility CEO Michael Peter.

"We need to reduce fossil fuel usage to zero. Only in this way can DB be climate-neutral in 2050. Then we will not operate a single vehicle with conventional diesel propulsion, "said DB member Sabina Jeschke.
