The 742.760, also referred to as the EffiShunter 1000M, is a motor locomotive born from the modernization of the 742 series. This transformation was undertaken by CZ LOKO. In 2009, the inaugural modernized unit was delivered to the carrier ČD Cargo, while subsequent newly-produced locomotives went to the company Unipetrol Doprava.
The 742.7 series locomotives' modernization draws inspiration from the concept used in the 741.7 series upgrades. The primary distinction is the reduction in total weight. The 742.7 locomotives result from reengineering the lighter 742 series engines, whereas the 741.7 series originates from the 740 series.

Designed with a hood style, the locomotive features a tower cab for the driver. It utilizes a Caterpillar CAT 3508C internal combustion engine, which powers individual traction motors through a Siemens traction alternator. The engine, coupled with the traction alternator, is situated in the locomotive's front hood.
A notable addition is the air-conditioned driver's cabin, which also provides an enhanced view due to the lowered trunks on either side. The cab's interior has been entirely redesigned, now featuring control desks equipped with display screens for both driving directions. The MSV control system ensures comprehensive control of the locomotive.
After rolling out the inaugural unit, labeled 742.701, it was integrated into ČD Cargo's operations at SOKV Ostrava. From June 2010, it has been active on multiple lines within the Ostrava hub. Over time, it was relocated to various sites and is presently operational in Otrokovice.
