System Lohr was used last week in the transshipment of railway semi-trailers in the terminal CLIP Rail Mega Hub Intermodal in Swarzędzu (Poland).

Lohr Railway System is a modern technology, patented and verified by operation, allowing horizontal loading of standard truck semi-trailers to railway wagons without the need for a crane. It has been used for some years in intermodal transportation, mainly in France and Italy. Now it is also available in Poland.

It is the first installation of this type not only in Poland, but also in countries east of the axis Bettembourg-Orbassano near Turin. This system allows the loading of semi-trailers that based on the construction parameters can’t be lifted vertically by a reach-stacker or a bridge crane.

The main advantages of Lohr Railway System include: short loading and unloading time, loading and unloading of multiple vehicles at the same time, it is not necessary to use other transshipment equipment.

Among the plans is also a possibility for a connection to other European destinations using the Lohr Railway System, for ex. Calais or Barcelona. Connection Poland – Luxembourg and further with Spain will allow the creation of one of the longest intermodal tracks in Europe. Given the economic and ecological aspects intermodal transportation is becoming a growth accelerator in European economies and significantly shapes the future of our continent.
