Chairman of the VPI Malte Lawrenz commented on a topic of “Sliding long-term traffic forecast” from Federal Ministry of Transport. “Rail has long been able to do more than is assumed in the prognosis and it faces the challenges of the future,” says Lawrenz.
According to Malte Lawrenz, Chairman of the VPI, railways are the transport of the future. “Those, who think otherwise suggest lack of alternatives instead of actively shaping the traffic of the future.” Further, he says, that all the previous German governments have been brake for rail transport. Economic prognoses say that ship and rail transport will achieve 25 % market share by 2030.
