Budimex, a major Polish company known for its role in developing and constructing high-speed rail networks, has signed a significant contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, Łódź branch, to design and build a new section of the S12 expressway.
The 14.4-kilometer stretch will extend from the border of the Łódź Voivodeship to the Przysucha junction. The project, valued at EUR 86,5 million (PLN 367.5 million) net, is scheduled for completion over 43 months, excluding winter months. This development is part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity between the center of Poland, the Lublin region, and the country's eastern borders, facilitating faster and safer travel across key economic zones.

The new segment of the S12 will feature a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction, improving traffic flow through southern Masovia towards the Lublin region. It will include important structural components such as the Gielniów junction, which intersects with National Road No. 12 and Provincial Road No. 728. In addition to major roadworks, Budimex will construct 23 engineering structures, including bridges, viaducts, and animal crossings. The project also includes the reconstruction of municipal roads and the development of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

Dariusz Demianiuk, District Director at Budimex SA, marked the significance of this project for both the Polish economy and the local communities it will serve. "The first section of the S12 expressway, important for the Polish economy and local community, will be built by Budimex. We know that this is an important project, and our infrastructural know-how allows us to carry out such tasks following the highest standards," stated Demianiuk.
