BUDIMEX Secures Major Contract for 70 km S10 Route Development in Western Pomerania

Polish construction giant Budimex SA has secured the tender for the construction of key sections of the S10 road, connecting Szczecin to Piła.

Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, the contracting authority for this project, found Budimex's bids for five key sections of the S10 expressway the most favorable. The total length of these sections will be 74 km, accounting for more than seventy percent of the new express route from Stargard Szczeciński to Piła.

The S10 will be upgraded to a two-lane expressway, featuring two lanes in each direction. Last year, an environmental decision was finalized, greenlighting the construction. The new S10 expressway is designed to bypass towns currently traversed by DK10, including Suchań, Recz, Kalisz Pomorski, and Mirosławiec.

This route will connect with the Wałcz bypass, with the S10 continuing south of the existing DK10. Planned along the entire route are eleven road junctions, five pairs of passenger service areas, and two road maintenance circuits.

Spanning approximately 410 km, the S10 road will link Szczecin with the Warsaw conurbation via Piłsudski, Bydgoszcz, and Toruń. The Government's national road construction program through 2030 aims to complete the missing sections, facilitating direct connections between the regions of Western Pomerania, Northern Wielkopolska, Kuyavia-Pomerania, and Masovia. This new roadway will serve as an alternative route for traffic north of the A2 motorway.

Budimex is set to oversee the construction of the following five sections: Witankowo - Piła Północ junction, Piecnik - Wałcz Zachód, Węzeł Łowicz Wałecki - Węzeł Piecnik, Cybowo - Łowicz Wałecki junction, and Stargard Wschód - Suchań junction. The commencement of each section will adhere to the timelines stipulated in the contract between both parties.
