Warsaw officials announced the opening of a new tramway route, significantly improving public transport connectivity for residents of Lower Mokotow. Constructed by Budimex, a renowned Polish firm that also specializes in high-speed rail projects, the route enables passengers to reach downtown Warsaw and the districts of Wola and Bemowo in just 15 minutes, marking a substantial reduction in travel time for daily commuters.
The newly introduced track spans over a kilometer between Czerniakowska and Belwederska streets and is a key segment of the expansive project aiming to connect the area to Wilanów. Streetcar Line No. 11, now operating along this route, includes stops at Goworka, Spacerowa, Sielecka, and Sielce, which are strategically placed to serve the residents of Sielce and Czerniakow.

"The route will be operated by Hyundai," Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski pointed out. "This is the only such platform in Warsaw, where the streetcar will be able to go in the other direction to reach Wola and Bemowo."

The project's completion was led by Budimex, alongside partner Balzola, and has been part of a larger effort to enhance Warsaw's tram infrastructure. At the line's opening, Rafał Trzaskowski also acknowledged the contractors for their work. "I would like to thank the contractors, Balzola and Budimex, for completing the entire route of Gagarin, Spacerowa, and Goworka," said Trzaskowski. "We are commissioning part of the new streetcar line to Wilanów. We will do everything as a city to complete the next sections on Belwederska, Sobieski, and Rzeczpospolitej streets as soon as possible."
