photo: Adif AV/BREAKING: Adif AV turns Burgos into the high-speed connection node with the north of the country
Adif Alta Velocidad (Adif AV) has put into service today the new High-Speed Line (HSL) to Burgos - Venta de Baños (Palencia) - Burgos section, an 86.5 km infrastructure that, with an investment of 759 million euros, connects the capital of Burgos to one of the most reliable, sustainable, and technologically advanced high-speed railway networks.
The inaugural trip was presided over by His Majesty the King, accompanied by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez; the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez; the Government Delegate in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones; the President of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco; and the President of Adif and Adif AV, María Luisa Domínguez, among other authorities.

CAF, the Spanish train manufacturer, has been awarded two contracts totalling over €100 million by two European cities, Athens and Seville.
The new high-speed line will allow direct and transversal connections between different cities and reduce travel times, increasing the reliability and capacity of the infrastructure. The installation of a gauge changer at Burgos Rosa Manzano station will also create new synergies between the high-speed and conventional networks, allowing trains with origin or destination in the Basque Country to travel between Madrid and Burgos on the high-speed line before continuing on the conventional line.
