A modernization of Traunkirchen and Traunkirchen Ort train stations will require around five months of section closures and rail replacement services.

Starting on February 7th, 2022, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, with the municipality Traunkirchen and the state of Upper Austria, will work on modernization of the stations in Traunkirchen and Traunkirchen Ort. The construction work should be finished in about five months. Replacement bus services will be available.

“Thanks to an elevated and barrier-free centre platform, our passengers will be able to board local trains comfortably in the future, and a new waiting area will make it pleasant to stay on the platform. We want to appeal to even more people with a modern infrastructure and convince them to switch to the climate-friendly railway,” says Judith Engel, Board Member of ÖBB-Infrastruktur. Modernization will also include new travel information systems and new lighting.

“After years of negotiations, ÖBB and the state of Upper Austria have agreed on the largest rail investment package in Upper Austria's history to date. More than 86 train stations, bus stops and stops are being modernized as part of this Upper Austrian infrastructure offensive. As planned, the infrastructure offensive is now making a stopover in Traunkirchen. To make public transport even more attractive, further measures are being taken along the Salzkammergutbahn as part of the infrastructure offensive,” stated Günther Steinkellner, infrastructure provincial councillor.

Deputy Mayor Andreas Moser offered these words about modernization: “Modern train stations are a real plus for the municipality of Traunkirchen. They make switching to the train more attractive for our citizens. The future barrier-free Traunkirchen train station will also enable travellers with a lot of luggage, people with restricted mobility and parents with prams to travel comfortably by train.”

Traunkirchen Ort station will get work done on its existing platform which is being renewed and partially widened. Furthermore, it will be fitted with a tactile ground information system and modern equipment as well as new lighting and information system. Same as Traunkirchen station it will now have barrier-free access in form of a ramp to the waiting area.

To ensure the five-month construction period some work will be done during the night hours. It will require the cancellation of both train stops, Traunkirchen and Traunkirchen Ort, from February 28th to April 25th, 2022. Between the Almünster am Traunsee and Ebensee train stations a replacement bus service will be provided. The entire route between Attnang‑Puchheim and Ebensee will be closed from April 25th to May 27th, 2022. Replacement bus services will be available. ÖBB also informs travellers on those lines to add more time to their travel as the construction and replacement bus services might make for some delay and to use the available ÖBB services to plan such trips.
